Liberty League Performers of the Week - Monday, March 8

Liberty League Performer of the Week Mike Mattelson   Vassar Senior (Great Neck, NY) Mattelson ran his singles record to 15-4 and his doubles record to 12-3 with a impressive wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles against Christopher Newport and a dominating win at No. 1 singles against Coe College. Mattelson led the first-ever nationally ranked Brewers, No. 22 in the nation, to a pair of impressive 8-1 wins, particularly against Christopher Newport, ranked No. 12 in the Atlantic South region. Mattelson won his Coe match 6-0, 6-1 and his Newport match 6-2, 6-1 after dropping the first set 7-5.

Liberty League Rookie of the Week Andrew Guzick   Vassar (Rochester, NY) Guzick went a combined 2-0 in singles and 1-1 in doubles for the week, winning both his singles matches in straight sets over Christopher Newport and Coe College, improving his record to 11-3. He spilt doubles, winning with partner Max Willner 8-2 against Coe, improving his record to 11-4 in doubles. Guzick's play at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles has sparked the Brewers to a No. 22 national ranking, the first time in school history Vassar has been ranked.
